Interestingly, Piyush Mishra is the least memorable, even though he does his regular bit of deadpan comedy. It also helps that Sonakshi Sinha and Jassie Gill don’t go over-the-top even once despite the genre. Jimmy Sheirgill must have said the words, “tera bhai” ad nauseum but only in the end did it begin to feel like the writers had no other creative way of making us laugh through him. I reckon the repetition doesn’t feel too bad because of the actors doing their bit. Unfortunately, it drags on a bit too long and gets mildly repetitive. The overall story though is a fairly amusing one about mistaken identities. The slapstick humor is just like any other slapstick humor, people falling, slapping each other, puns on abusive words, etc. There seems to be a flicker in the writing that can be fanned into a really enjoyable film. Unfortunately, the silliness is inconsistent and the non-slapstick humor too little. And yet, it is not the kind that convinces you that the writers were on something while putting this together. But, it is still funny because you can’t stop laughing and wondering how they might have thought of such a sequence. It is not situational, so it is not germane to the story. Some of Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi’s comedy is just the right amount of silly.
